About us
A band for the whole community
Dunbartonshire Concert Band is a community band, formed in 1973 in Bearsden and Milngavie, that brings players of all ages together to make music and share it.
Our story
Dunbartonshire Concert Band was formed in 1973 by a group of local musicians, among them Glyn Bragg, who later became our first Honorary President. Since 2000 the band has been led by our Musical Director, Robert Baxter, and has grown in size.
Our players range from teenagers to over 80 years old, and come from all kinds of backgrounds, with no auditions to join. Most members have started off learning music at a young age, with many going to to study for a career, we have others how are picking this back up, or even learning something new. Some members have played with us for several decades, and others are just starting out with the band. We rehearse on Saturday mornings at Kessington Hall in Bearsden.
We play every style, from marches and film themes to musicals, classical and contemporary concert band music, including pieces commissioned for the band. We perform throughout Central Scotland and beyond, in indoor and outdoor concerts, charity concerts and festivals, with occasional overseas tours.

Dunbartonshire Concert Band is a Registered Charity, Scottish Charity Number SC011887.
